On The Record — Privacy Policy

Summary: On The Record processes your audio, video, and transcripts entirely on your Mac. Ingleworks never receives them.

1. What the app does with your files

Transcription runs locally on your Mac using a speech-recognition model stored on your device. Your media files, the transcripts produced from them, and any edits you make stay on your Mac and in whatever location you choose to save them. They are not uploaded to Ingleworks, and they are not sent to any third party for processing.

2. What leaves your Mac

One thing: when you first use a speech-recognition model, the app downloads it. That request goes to the model's hosting provider and reveals only what any file download reveals — your IP address and the file requested. Nothing about your media is included.

If the app checks for updates outside the Mac App Store, that request likewise carries only the app version and standard connection information.

3. What we collect

Nothing. On The Record has no account, no sign-in, and no analytics or crash-reporting service that sends data to us. We do not know who uses the app or what they transcribe.

If you install the app from the Mac App Store, Apple provides us with aggregate, anonymous statistics about downloads and, if you have opted in to sharing with developers, aggregate crash reports. That data comes from Apple, is not identifiable, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

4. Support correspondence

If you email support, we hold that email as described in the Ingleworks website privacy policy. Please don't attach recordings or transcripts unless we've asked for them to reproduce a bug, and if you do, we delete them once the issue is resolved.

5. Children

On The Record is not directed to children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.

6. Your rights

Since we hold no personal information from the app, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or delete. Your transcripts are yours and live on your machine; deleting them is a matter of deleting the files. For anything we hold from support email, write to support@ingleworks.co.

7. Changes

Changes will be posted here with a new date. If a future version of the app ever sends data anywhere, this policy will say so before that version ships.
